Starting in September, 2011, Crossfit Summerville: The Anvil will start offering Crossfit Endurance training, and it will all become clearer. What is Crossfit Endurance?

 

Crossfit Endurance is an endurance sports training program dedicated to improving performance, fitness, and endurance sports potential. We inspire, coach, and provide our community with the most aggressive and proven fundamentals of sports science, exercise physiology, nutrition, and athletic training protocols. 

 

The Crossfit Summerville Endurance Program is an endurance training program used in conjunction with Crossfit Summerville classes. Our goal is simple: Make you able to run farther, faster without injuries on minimal training.

 

For someone looking to start running for the first time there is no better way to enter the sport than our training program. For the experienced runner and high-mileage athlete please have an open mind to try something different and break out of your training comfort zone.

You never have to do a race to train with us, but having a race goal is encouraged. The way we train is different than the “norm.” Long, slow distance does not belong in our program.

 

How does the Crossfit Summerville Endurance program work?

 

While you do not have to be training for a race to participate, having a race as a goal is encouraged. There will be three programmed workouts per week that can be adjusted for your specific race distance. To achieve maximum benefit of the endurance workouts you must be Crossfitting 3-6 times a week. For our endurance workouts we have 2 classes set up a week for people to come, train, and be coached. It is recommended to make at least one class per week to keep your technique up to par. The workouts or you miss in a class will be your “homework” workouts. There will also be the option to run as a group with the Coach on Saturday mornings. 

Our team will focus on 5 main aspects of training:

- Pose Method Technique

- Endurance WODs (short intervals, long intervals, tempo or time trails)

- Crossfit WODs

- Proper nutrition

- Recovery and “Prehab”

How to be a part of the program:

Group Classes:

Coached classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6PM. You can attend one or both. There will also be options to run on Saturday mornings. Starting in September 2011, the cost to participate in the classes will be $40 a month for current Crossfit Summerville members and $60 a month for non-members. 

Running Seminars:

It is highly encouraged for everyone to participate in a running seminar, to be held one Saturday per month. 

- Small groups, limited to 5 per seminar 

- Video analysis of running technique each session

- Personalized “homework drills” to develop proper technique

- How to set up goal paces for your training and races

Cost is $20 per person
